We started small
Vivian Karamitros founded Paving Your Path to College in 2016 because she noticed that first-generation students in her community were not getting the support they needed to be prepared for education after high school. She combined her personal experience with information from professional counselors to create a guide of resources, tips, and advice for them. She then began presenting her guide to students and educators at workshops in churches, community centers, and libraries across the Charlotte, NC area.
We went digital
As the team grew, we saw the need and potential for Paving Your Path to College to become a national online resource, readily accessible by anyone at any moment. As members of Generation Z, we understand that many other resources provided to students are aged and unappealing, so Paving Your Path to College has evolved with technology. We use modern online tools such as social media, blog articles, and live stream video discussions to make college preparation much more exciting to the younger generation that craves on-demand information.
Now we help all
Although Paving Your Path to College was initially founded to support primarily first-generation, low-income, underserved, and underrepresented students, today we are able to support all students who have big dreams for the future, but lack the knowledge and tools to get where they want to go, making their paths a little easier to pave.
